Insurance

We hope you'll never need it, but you would be crazy to leave home without it!

In fact, all of The Learning Traveller programs require that you purchase some form of medical & travel insurance prior to departure.

So, to make it easy we have included medical & travel insurance in our program packages (please see notes 1 and 2 below for details and exceptions). 

This includes comprehensive medical coverage up to $100,000 US as well as trip interruption and cancellation insurance for up to $20,000 US!  Coverage is provided through STA Travel, underwritten by AIG Travel Guard (a division of AIG Travel Inc).  For detailed policy information please click here.

The insurance premium is already included in our published program fees so no extra payment is necessary (see note 2 below).

The Montreal Teen Residence/Homestay and the Quebec City Homestay programs include medical coverage only provided by StudentGuard; click here for policy details).  You must purchase your own insurance to cover travel related issues including trip cancellation and interruption, lost/delayed baggage, etc.

2. The medical coverage offered for the Montreal Teen Residence/Homestay Program and the Quebec City Homestay Progam applies to all participants, regardless of citizenship/residency status.  For all other programs, the comprehensive medical and travel insurance coverage only applies to US citizens/residents; travellers who are not citizens/residents of the US must purchase their own comprehensive medical and travel insurance and provide proof of this coverage to The Learning Traveller.  If you purchase your own medical and travel insurance policy we will reduce the total program fees by the premium rate that corresponds to the length of your program including travel days.
